Peer Leader
During my second year of undergrad, I worked with First Year Experience as a Peer Leader. Though I was hesitant about the position at first, it quickly grew into one of my favorite experiences I have had here at the University of Cincinnati. I am often met with confused looks when I say I work as a Peer Leader. At the heart of my job, I pursue growth and retention of first year students. I lead a Learning Community, which includes a group of freshman, 10-20 students, who all share the same major or pathway. I led a STEMM-D Learning Community or LC; this included pre-health students such as pre-med or pre-pharm. I also had a large minority population within my LC which yielded some rich conversations. Each week we would review key skills such as time management, connecting with faculty, and study habits. To help, I had a team of co-workers and supervisors ready to give me advice. I am very grateful to have been chosen to serve in this role and hope to pursue this throughout my undergraduate career. Below is a reflection of leadership from my Peer Leading position.
